The Black Abbey priory building is dated from 1894 and is connected to the Black Abbey church which dates from 1225. Run by the Dominican Friars, we were asked to prepare drawings and specifications for much needed conservation repair works to the priory. Lime pointing to the existing limestone walls and chimneys along with flashings were carried out along with restoration of the rainwater goods. The works were expertly carried out by Pat Tallis and Co. and overseen by ALWA on site. Pointing samples were prepared for review with Kilkenny County Council conservation department.
