Patrick Wheeler

Patrick Wheeler, born in Downpatrick, County Down, is a founding Director of Arigho Larmour Wheeler Architects. He studied architecture in Scotland and Denmark, where he was nominated for the RIAS Silver Medal, before returning to Ireland to complete his Professional Examinations at University College Dublin. Patrick is a member of the RIAI and is also registered in the UK with ARB and RIBA.

He has extensive experience across private residential projects, refurbishments, heritage and protected structures, large office developments, and urban design schemes in Ireland, the UK, and the Middle East, including work with de Blacam & Meagher and Ostick & Williams. Patrick has long championed high-quality design, contributing to the culture of architecture through teaching, exhibitions, serving on awards juries including the International Concrete Design Competition, and as an Expert Advisor to the Ministerial Advisory Group for Architecture and the Built Environment.

Since 2012, he has taught at Queen’s University Belfast and acted as Guest Critic at schools in Sweden, Ulster University, and University College Dublin. His work is shaped by collaboration, travel, and a curiosity about how architecture shapes everyday life.
